Aquaponic System For Growing Mangroves

I designed the project with a high school in La Parguera, Puerto Rico called Escuela Secundaria Montessori Alejandro Tapia y Rivera. 

 

Aquaponic vs. Hydroponic Mangrove Cultivation

• Hydroponic systems grow plants in nutrient-rich water without soil. In mangrove hydroponics, nutrients are synthetically added.
   

• Aquaponic systems combine fish cultivation with plant growth. Fish waste provides natural nutrients for the plants, while the plants filter the water for the fish.
